"Frebreeze"
I personally feel that the contrasts in tones of the lightness of the pine needles and sky make the darkness of the pine cone stand out. I feel the DOF and focus was used well because I was trying to make the pine cone stand out among everything in the photo. The placement of the pine cone was manipulated to the top corner of the photo following the rule of thirds.
" The End of Play"
This photo represents that something as simple as a tennis ball can bring down child's hopes when he looses it. Because when he looses the ball he also looses play. The DOF was set to just focus on the ball leaving the foreground blurred. The ball shows a good contrast from the gates and the asphalt ground. This photo reminded me of my freshman year because during lunch me and my friends would play STING and we would all get pissed when we lost the ball because some loser would through it over the brick wall we played on . We actually lost the ball that was taken from the photo.
" Solitude"
The photo is a picture of the shed in my neighbors abandoned house. Both of the house next to me have been abandoned for 20 plus years, this adds to the creepy feeling in the photo. The contrast in the shed with the dark background makes the shape of it stand out. The DOF makes the shed in focus while the fence blurs .
" The Last One"
This photo was taken outside my house in my mom's flower garden. The day that I took this photo every single flower was black and dead... except for one... the last one. This flower really stands out in tonal values due to all the dark black flowers next to it. The DOF was very shallow so only the flowers would be in focus.
" Mirror Mirror"
The title represents the humor in this photo, for all I know Mr. Tomaselli may have been in turn taking a picture of me while I captured him. I feel the DOF was accurate because I wanted some texture of the trees to be shown. The tonal values are well between the lightness of the face, the darkness of the camera, the darkness of the trees, and the lightness of the street.
